I'm leaning towards buying another Dell laptop and this time I think it's going to be a D531 Latitude Laptop. My question is has anyone heard or read of design or style changes to the Latitude line like we recently saw with the Inspiron or Vostro?

I would hate to buy one and find out there's a newer Latitude laptop waiting in the wings shortly after I make my purchase.

I have a couple more questions regarding a Dell Latitude laptop:

    1) How are the keyboards? Do they have a good tactile feel to them? (important to me)

    2) How are the screens, image and quality wise?

    3) Are they more durable than the Vostro line?

    4) How are the mouse buttons? They feel cheap on the Vostro, Inspiron line.

    Thanks :)

Hi.:) Well, supposedly, Dell does plan to release the E-series of Latitude's http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/01/dell-latitude-e-series-leaked I don't know for sure when it'll be released, (anyone else? )

    As for your other questions:

    1. The keyboards are pretty good, mine feels solid. Your mileage will vary of course.

    2. The screens, well on my D630, my screen is pretty decent. Not every system will have the same screen manufacturer and that can make a difference. Have you looked at the D531 review on this site. They talked a bit about the (glossy) screen and found it a little disappointing. The matte screen may be better though.

    3. Yes, much more. Latitudes are true "business class" notebooks. They have higher levels of build quality, and better materials than the Vostro's which are rebadged Inspirons only in all black.

    4. I like my mouse buttons, they don't make loud clicks, and they are easy to press.

    Hope this helps out :)

I think it will be unlikely the windows XP will be installed, just cause Dell has been promoting "last XP deal"

I narrowed it to the D630 and the T61 14.1" model. I need to get one soon before school! I sure hope the E-series comes out before I make my purchase. How do you like the T61, did you get the 9-cell battery?
