I plan on using my laptop outside. I understand that the vostro has an anti-glare screen, amongst other things I like (WinXP downgrade :D )

So I was wondering from anyone who owns a Vostro with an anti-glare screen, can you effectively use it in the outdoors or is it virtually impossible to see the screen and should I give up on my dream of working outdoors in the spring/summer and just go glossy?

I have a Latitude d610 with an anti-glare screen and compared to my newer and glossy 1520 it is usable outdoors, if there is no direct light impact. I suppose current Vostro screens are similar so you should be ok, as long as its not extremly bright outside.

Assuming that the Vostro screens are similar to the Latitudes, my E6400 is very usable outdoors, as long as you don't let direct sunlight reflect on the screen. Ambient sunlight is fine.

I have a Vostro 1500 with a the non glossy (matt) finish and it is very usable outside. But as others have said you want to keep the sunlight from shinning directly on the screen.

I'm curious but under the same circumstances of making sure the sunlight isn't directly on the screen are glossies use able? In my experience it didn't work, but maybe it was just a low end glossy. Any thoughts?
