Hi, I am going to purchase a computer from the Dell Outlet and was wondering if I could enable or disable vPro? Is it built into the motherboard or is it just a property of certain CPUs? I see in the Dell Outlet list whether the system has vPro or not however the system that I am trying to match it with does not specifically specify if it has vPro or not or whether it is just disabled.

That is the detailed view of the system. Does this system have vPro or not or does it have it and is just disabled? Will there be driver problems if I purchase a vPro system and disable it running a factory image of a system without vPro but everything else is the same?

    Thank you.

VPro is a feature of the CPU (i5 or i7). I looked up the specific i7 on the Intel Ark and it say the CPU has VPro - ARK | Intel® Core

More info on VPro here Intel vPro - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kind of a meh IMHO as it is more a collection of middle of the road features designed to assure corporate IT departments that the PC has some basic amount of performance - CPU has sufficient grunt for an office environment (i5 or i7), Integrated Graphics and AMT (which itself is a set of features) for remote management. I can't see any of this being a deal breaker for a home use machine.

You can disable the Intel ME through the OROM during POST, and that should be sufficient.
