I am currently debating between the 15inch mobile workstation or the precision tower. I am not into engineering or scientific sector, but will be using this for financials.

I know there is a lot of marketing hype infused with the Precision line, showing how much it can achieve, etc, when in reality other high end lines can do just the similar thing.

I want to hear from the users of the mobile and desktop Precision line. Does it REALLY make a difference that you are specifically using the Precision, compared with other options you have in the market?

I owned the M4500, M4600, and M6600 before. Honestly there was nothing so different compared with other high end products, but a lot of my needs have changed ever since. My current computer set up is in my signature and yes I will be needing something very reliable and high performance very soon.

Between the premium business mobile workstations offered by Lenovo/HP/Dell, you'll generally get comparable specs and build quality. Specific features might vary from brand to brand, and I personally think Dell's business support is miles ahead of the other two, but otherwise you can't really go wrong in this market sector; it's all pretty good.

The reason why I use Dell's stuff is also for their warranty. Yeah the work station support is solid and I think even Steve Jobs could learn from it a little.

Now, if only Tim Cook can learn from Dell, I'd buy Apple product in no time!

I have had many laptops (mostly Dell) and the precison line is definietly a better and more solid build compared to XPS or Inspirion, an of course the price reflects that.

The Precision comes with a standard 3 year warranty (at least mine did) and a better level of technical support.

That being said, I been very happy with the various XPS and Inspiron laptops I do and have had, and the reason I really go with the M4600 I have now is it is better build for the frequent travelling I do with it, GPU options are a big plus as well, aloing with the configuration options such as having a Hard Drive, MSata Drive, and Optical Drive

I wouldn't say the Precision line is more powerful; that nod would probably go to Alienware.

I would say it's more durable, and likely to be more stable and reliable.
