    Thanks for the reply.

And, I agree.. my question was kind of random considering its a Dell forum. I guess while browsing the forum, I got momentarily intrigued :D Happens...

One possible reason that the performance of the same GPU is higher on dell then on others might be because they design their own graphic cards. (GPU's from NVIDIA but card design Dell specific) The others use the NVIDIA created cards, MXM technology.

    That makes no sense.

Dell doesn't design "their own graphic cards" but it's just the interface that is designed for them. It's not standard MXM but a modified one which doesn't affect performance in anyway.

And if there is "higher performance", which I have seen no evidence for and I don't think there is, that maybe just a result of difference in specifications (CPU mainly) and drivers. Running benchmarks at lower than standard resolution doesn't count for higher performance as well.

dell does sometimes make unique graphics cards. i had a "ati radeon 9600 pro turbo" on my i8600 and geforce 5650 also available for it.

the clocks were different from any other brand of laptop with the same cards

Many manufacturers have used cards with specifications different from the standard, that's not new but it isn't the case here and has nothing to do with the used interface.
