    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if it would be possible to install the drivers for the 9600 GT drivers on the FX 770M. If i'm correct the card is based on the same chip and i was curious if i'd be able to get a better game performance using those drivers.

Are there any real risks in installing the 9600 drivers?

    try visiting laptopvideo2go.com

i used to use it to change my quadro cards but this nvs160m i have just wont play ball maybe u will have better luck

follow the instructions its fairly simple and let us know if ur card shows up in device manager as a geforce afterwards

    Hi Gordy,

I ran the driver i got from nvidia and downloading the ones from laptopvideo2go now. The card does show up as the 9600 GT in the device manager now :D I ran a 3dmark06 and got a result of 6518 pver 6446 using the Quadro drivers. I had the quadro overclocked to 600 / 900 when i ran the test but i can't be sure if it's still OC'ed now. In the nvidia screen it still shows the 770m and not the 9600....probably because i didn't install the software for the 9600, just manually loaded the driver through device manager.

Anyone with OC experience....if the normal card setting are 500 / 800 / 1250, what should i set the shader clock at if i move to 600 / 900? Increase by the same number?

I'm gonna try Far Cry 2 again now and see if actual gameplay differs much

    A few questions:

    1. What LV2G driver is it? I would like to test on my new system.
    2. What was your procedure for installing that driver?
    3. Where do you see a shader clock? I thought you were using nVidia System Tools?

u choose the driver to suit your operating system download it then run the 7zip file and it will extract itself to a folder grab the modified inf file from lv2g an drop it in the folder and overwrite the original inf and then click on the setup file and it should let u install it as u would normally

I did all that, it dropped my 3D performance heavily. It seems LPTV did it differently, so I am asking for his procedure.

if its such a small increase in synthetic, is it worth the instability (well, relative instability) of the driver?

Will we see any real increase in game performance?
    cheers

    Hi guys

The performance wasn't that much better...couple (3 maybe) of frames. I didn't install the way Gordy said, i manually loaded the driver through device manager.

The shader clock is right beneath the 2 others. I go into the screen by right-clicking on my desktop and select "nvidia configuration screen" under performance i get device settings with 3 adjustable sliders.....that's it.

I'll run some new test without OC and with OC.....be right back ;)

Ok here's the results for the 9600 GT driver...

    first without OC

    And with OC set too 600 / 900 /1250

The test with the 770M drivers showed this...ran this earlier already

Although i did get a score in the 6500's earlier today with the drivers from Nvidia i don't think it makes that much difference...less than a 100 points with running a driver that's not really meant for the card...not worth it for me.

Maybe the shader clock does need to be set higher? I don't know
here's the image of the nvidia screen, it's in Dutch but you'll recognize the necessary ;)

Ok....highest results yet 6550 with stock Dell FX 770M drivers OC at 600 / 900 / 1350 (raised all the defaults by 100)

max temps are CPU core 1-74c, CPU core 2-83c, GPU 88c

Think i'll leave it at that :D
