I just received a refurbished M4400 and had no problem changing it to the A03 bios. When I tried to install the latest Nvidia 179.48 notebook gpu driver (for Windows XP -32 bit), I get the following message...

"The Nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatable with your current hardware. Setup will now terminate."

Can anyone tell me why this gpu driver will not load? Do I have to do something different in order to get this driver to be accepted by this M770 business gpu?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

    Best regards.

Are you using the LaptopVideo2Go driver?

Did you download the modded inf file and copy and paste it into the driver folder? It must be done for the drivers to work.

That is the most common issue.

Ok, I went back to the Nvidia site and noticed that their are downloads for both the Geforce gpu and the Quadro gpu. I downloaed the Geforce instead of the Quadro driver.

Is everyone that is gaming with the M4400 only using the Quadro drivers?

What drivers do you use on laptopvideo2go.com when they do not designate between the Geforce and Quadro driver? Are you then still able to use the Geforce drivers?

Sorry for all the questions. This is my first "business" gpu notebook.

    Jackpro,

We must have posted at the same time.

I downloaded the driver off the Nvidia notebook download site.

I take it from your responce that the laptopvideo2go drivers should be no problem to use as they are (with the modded inf file). Thanks for your help.

Has anyone tried to successfully use the gpu notebook drivers from the Nvidia site on your M4400? If so, which one did you use (the Geforce or the Quadro driver)?

Do you think it is safe to give the Quadro driver a try (since the Geforce one would not load)?

Each driver should show the cards that are supported.

It would not likely hurt anything to try the other drivers. You can always roll the driver back if you have issues.

I was not successful in loading the Nvidia Quadro driver.

The good news is that I was able to successfully load the 180.48 laptopvideo2go driver. I went ahead and ran the 3Dmark06 test and got a 5891 score, which I am very happy with. Now on to my games!

    Thanks again for your help!

You will never be able to install the drivers from the nVidia page as they are not meant for the mobile series. The Quadro 770M drivers aren't even on there....you're downloading desktop drivers. When selecting drivers you should choose the "Quadro FX Series (notebooks)"....and there you'll find nvidia saying you need to go to Dell.

Or you can indeed go with the laptopvideo2go drivers but they don't really give any better performance as far as i've seen and Dell has just updated the driver today

    Thanks LPTP-LVR for the information!

I'll give the Dell Quadro 770M drivers a try to see how they do for gaming.
