    Hey Guys

Maybe someone has an idea, I have the follwing problem:
I have an E6500 with deactivated AHCI in the Bios due to a custom install of Windows XP (Bluescreen on install, Yes I NOW know that I could have implemented this in the installation but now its too late) cause Vista sucked.

When I plug in my U3 enabled Kingston USB Stick The U3 Menu does not start. The first start showed an error "1000" in a U3 window without further explanation. Now when I plug it in the Boot Partition is reckonized, when I double click the U3 Launchpad nothing happens. I do have Nero installed which could be a problem but uninstalling it did not solve the problem.

In the Hardwaremanager I have a Standardvolume with a yellow exclamation Mark, the Details show "The Hardware cannot be started Code 10"

I have the same issue on two different E6500 that I have setup.

I have the feeling that the hidden EISA Configuration Partition could be the problem as this also screws up Partitioning Programs. OR it is the deactivated AHCI.

Question: is there anyone out there that has an official Dell XP Installation that has a U3 stick that works?

Thanx alot for any ideas that you might have.

I had a similar problem in a e6500 with Vista Business. Moreover, my U3 had password protection and I couldn't access it.

I thought it would be a Vista issue...
