when can we expect there to be a price drop for the e-series dell laptops? I could really use a 25% discount on that $1600 :). Does dell offer such a discount for students? I go to Utoronto...

Try calling. I saved about $425 just by asking how close my rep could come to the USA price. Total w/taxes went from $1902 to $1473.

If you are EPP eligible, I could probably help you get 20% or so off.

I am. I did check the EPP prices online, even with the 12% off with a 3 year warranty, the final price was only about $100 cheaper than business prices for a $1800+tax config

If there is more discount to be had, pl let me know :)

is there a trick to it? or you just call and say "how close can you come to the USA price", and then they'll say "please hold", and 15 minutes later they will say "ok we got you a 500 dollar discount" !?!?

Well, that was how it worked for the drop on the computer, then I got the shipping for $50, and when he couldn't accept my Airmiles card he dropped the shipping to free.

He also said that he was "having a bad day". lol.

I was very surprised. The rep didn't even blink when I asked him to match the US price.

I qualify for EPP, I'm a university student. My mom also qualifies for EPP since she works for the government. She has gotten to borrow a T61 though. Which of these would give the biggest EPP discount? How can you help Greg? Should I ask for EPP before or after asking them to pricematch the US price?

I've also noticed that to upgrade from 80gb 5400rpm on a thinkpad is half the price of what it is at dell. Will dell compensate this?
