    Hi there,

I recently installed a new display LCD which I bought on the internet. The resolution is better, but its designed to work with my M6700, it's just a higher spec display than the one I purchased at the start.

To make matters a little bit more complicated, I also did a completely clean, and replaced the thermal compound on the CPU and GPU. My warranty is near an end, so I thought I'd tidy everything else at the same time.

So, I tried turning on the machine and nothing happened after hitting the power button. I was advised to remove the CMOS battery to wipe the settings. This worked! but after shutting down I had the same problem, which again, is temporarily fixed if I remove and replace the CMOS battery.

Does anyone know what might be the issue? I would *guess* that the display is causing the BIOS compatibility issue, but it is supposed to be compatible, and the display works fine when the machine is running

    Is this a common issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

By nothing happened, do you mean you don't even see the dell logo?

No logo, no fans, no sign of intelligence whatsoever. However, when I remove and reinsert the CMOS battery, it kicks in straight away without needing to press any buttons.

I'm wondering if it's a fault with my power button. Just so you know, I updated the bios, which didn't make any difference to the problem.
