Hi, everyone) So i got my hands on refurb Dell M6600 (together with M4600) with the following specs:

    i7-2720QM/8Gb 1600Mhz RAM/Fire Pro M8900 2Gb/750Gb HDD/17,3" 1080p Matte/Intel Wi-Fi

This topic is similar to M4600 OC session one, but with the new Precision laptop :D

Anyways, i used Sapphire Trixx software to OC the . Intsalled the latest drivers from AMD website (dated 04/10/2012). The stock clocks are 680/900.

I started my session bumping clocks in such steps, a 3dmark run is required after each clock tuning to make sure it's stable enough:

    1) 800/1000 Mhz
    2) 830/1050 Mhz
    3) 850/1100 Mhz - stable

In the conclusion i would like to admit the high OCability of the M8900 card, resulting in a heafty and stable 20% clock boost. The temps are somewhat high, but not dengerous: MAX - 80C during BF3 gameplay + OC! Compared to say Sager/AW the cooling is amazingly quiet! Dunno how is that possible)

Thanks! Paid like 1900$ for both, he-he) But the m4600 has some sound issues, might send it for repairs... And both laptop don't quite support my 2x4gb 1866mhz ram, that's a little lame too. still m6600 looks far more solid than its younger sibling and has the beloved mxm 3.0b port, which is a deal breaker for me)

    Thx Red Line.

    * GPU Thermal paste - stock from Dell (I don't know what they are using)

    * No external cooling - room temp.

    * only back-bottom of M6600 lifted up little bit - for better air flow.

I posted something about this a while ago in another thread. My fastest is 825/1150 (couldn't quite get 850 core), for a 3dmark11 score of 3764. OC makes a huge difference with this card. I actually run 800/1125 on an everyday basis, as a general rule I back up a notch from the max attainable OC.

Sorry this thread is over a year old but I am having some issues with overclocking my M8900. It was overclocking fine until I decided to replace the base and lid of my M6600. I spent a quite a bit of time reassembling it. Everything is working great but the card seems to be locked now and trixx just defaults back to the stock clocks once they are changed. Also MSI afterburner the clocks are locked also. I tried a lot of other drivers with no success. I even flashed to a 6970m with no success, they latest cataylist drivers would not install after I flashed it. So I flashed it back to a M8900 like before and I'm trying to figure out what to do next.

One thing is I had to unplug the CMOS battery so the bios was all reset. Is there anything in the bios that would have effected the graphics card?
