I'd look at the outlet store before I'd mess around with Ebay. I don't know what kind of deal you get at places like that but it'd be difficult to beat the deals I've found at the outlet, and mine came with three years Compete Care and I don't know if Ebay does Complete Care. And did you mean a Covet with the 2700 card? If so don't touch it cause to the best of my knowledge it isn't a Covet. Mine is the first time I'd bought outlet and I still occasionally bang my head into a particularly attractive brick wall because I'd had it recommended more than once and ignored excellent advice. I'd gotten shafted by Dells sales bandits and got contacted by the 'Executive Situation Resolution Division' or some such acronym ready name after I wrote a very precise and incident specific email to Michael Dell telling him what I thought about his sales staff. I have no idea whatever if that had anything to do with it but received a pretty much loaded with everything machine that I haven't been able to distinguish from new. This was almost exactly a year ago and at the time it priced out at $5600 or $5800 (I forget but either one works for me) for a total price, including New Jersey sales tax, of 22 hundred and change. There's new GPUs and maybe other options I didn't have to choose but from but find the Quadro 3700 is probably more than I need and it works fine so far. That's what I'd recommend. Obviously.

Obviously my mistake. I haven't looked at the Dell page in a while but my memory tells me that the Covet came with the RGB LED upgrade as well as the 3700 GPU standard. Did you 'downgrade' from the standard or was buying the 3700 card a paid option?

But come to think of it I guess it might depend what country you buy in. I live in Costa Rica but buy most all my computo stuff in the States. At the time I bought mine Costa Rica Dell didn't even sell a Covet. Come to think of it I've skimmed the Costa Rica Dell page and there's lots of differences. Where'd you buy yours at? And I always give myself some wiggle room in case someone 'lawyers up'. I did say "to the best of my knowledge" so don't get any ideas Barn!

Scratch the 'where are you questions'. My eagle eyes and brilliant deductive powers just saw the 'uk', and that flag does look sort of familiar.

Build options vary from Country to Country and it depends on what the latest.. Greatest.. GPU on the market was at the time. I'm guessing that when the 6400 came out, the 3700 was not yet available (I could be wrong here). That being said, currently in the US, you can't downgrade the GPU in either of the Covets (6400 or 6500). It's the top of the line (currently the 3700) with no options.

You might want to have a look at Dell's refurb site (if you can, not sure what country you are from). Thye have some pretty good deals as long as you are flexible on the config.

Has anyone else had problems with the secondary drive disappearing in Win7 64bit? For no appearent reason, my E: drive (500GB Seagate 7200RPM) disappears out of Explorer and the Disk Management tool. When I reboot, it comes back on. Suggestions?

    Hallo .
I am buying an M6400 and debating between m7740 ati card or Fx3700m?
    What is best?.
Is the ATI worst? If so how much?
Also is it a good idea to buy from Outlet? If so is it possible to contact a Dell Sales person to get a better deal than the outlet shows?
    Thanks

Rather than repeat it all, look at Max the parrot at the top of the page. I give my whole outlet story if that's any help. You should at least skim the page we're on before asking a question that's answered on it already. As far as the GPUs go I only have experience with the Quadro 3700 and have no complaints.

    Ooopss!!!!
Sorry about that!!!.Next time I´ll try to do my homework just before asking.
I think for what I read that the Ati M7740 is not as fast as the Quadro Fx 3700M although there were early reports about the FX 3700M overheating in a few systems.
If somebody knows well the difference I´d love to hear about it.

Finally I just found out yesterday that the M6400 has been discontinued. It would be nice to get a good coupon discount for the outlet.

    Thanks in advance.

The 7740 rocks too.. Just not as much as the 3700. I think the 7740 was better bang for your buck when I ordered. It saved me a couple of hundred USD. They are both very powerful GPUs.
