So work is due for buying me a workstation and Im considering a m4800 or m4700 if the 4800 is a bust and swapping the GPU into my 4600. My question is the m4800 mxm type 2 like the previous 2 generations? I also see its the same chassis/setup so Im assuming the heatsink will work.

Even if it is same generation, it may or may not work due to bios/vbios.

This was the first upgrade I had in mind when I purchased my system (just didn't think it'd come so soon).

I'm good for now -- since I'm just a beginning animator -- but I certainly hope it will work when I need it later on.

Well I guess I will just look into an m4700 since I think that swap has already been done.

On the off chance you're still looking for info, the M4800 has an MXM 3.0 Type A slot.
