It's really based on price. I do not see a WD 750GB for close to the $79 I'm paying for the SG.

The performance of WD seems better on some benchmarks (not all), and I didn't notice until now the failure rate of the SG is higher.

I ordered the SG before I saw your message, so we'll see what happens.

they gave me $750 off, which worked out to be a 25% discount (and they threw in 2 units of their 6 button premium laser mice that come with the optiplexes). if you order more than 5 units they can give you an even bigger discount

You, my friends, got gipped. It should be around that price (2600-2700) with a 2820QM, IPS, and a 2000M (not to mention Windows Ultimate), and that's after taxes!

Well, looks like the video card(s) are back in stock at Dell US. You know, the ones they "didn't" have a shortage of, so my M4600 is finally actually begin built.

Can anyone using the OCZ Vertex 3 SSD in their 4600 let me know if they are having any of the issues a lot of other people are having with these drives, like random bsods. I am debating which SSD to put in my 4600 when it arrives and am going with either the OCZ Vertex 3 or Intel 510.

Why not the 320, you get more storage than the 510 for your $ .

It is not about the money. Performance and reliability are the concern.

NOT TRUE! I ordered the $3 recovery disk with my M6600 and had no problem using it to do a fresh install of windows on my new SSD. That's what it's for! And on my previous dell, a Studio XPS 16, dell sent me a free windows ultimate installation disk when I had a new drive to install. Also, there's ABSOLUTELY no reason to ever pay for 2 copies of windows for 1 laptop! If for some reason you can't obtain a recovery disk, it's perfectly legal to download a windows installation iso and use the license that came with your laptop to install.
