I would grab a cheap m6700. It's bigger but can use the 3840qm and also a 980m / m5000m. Would be a cheaper alternative with a longer life span and faster memory support as well.

Sure i would like but i am a poor guy lol, my limit is building it up little by little i got mine around 80 bucks, but with a weak setup: i5 2540m, 4 GB RAM and well the M5950, I ended building that tank in around 4 months or so, last thing was the m5100 which has been tricky to find one cheap, also i use it for college, the m6700 should be way heavier and i could not fit it in my bag, also i think that it should have then that power brick of 230w or more can't remember the wattage, i would love that there was one laptop kind of this one but with a MXM type b in this size, but MXM are for larger and bigger laptops.

Another thing to consider is a barebones m6600, all the parts are basically interchangeable and you can get a better graphics card. The m290x is the best known GPU to work but I believe the w7170m might also work and that would likely be the best of the platform. However on the cheaper side you can get the m6100 which is officially supported and costs about 40 USD on ebay. From what I understand its about the same performance as the 860m. The w7170m sits between 780m and 970m at stock.

Maybe save up a small fund on the side and then just keep an eye on the listings until something hits below 100 USD and swoop it up. It will last you much longer than the m4600 but of course does come at a cost, you have to invest a bit more into an older platform and of course the weight difference. According to userbenchmark, w7170m is 152% better than the m5100. If a vBIOS can be made then it can possibly get up to 190-200%

The last option which I DO NOT advise until someone else can do it right, is to remove the 2 DIMM slots below the keyboard and then plug in a MXM 3.0b GPU. When I start working again in a couple of weeks ill try it again. I didnt approach the problem correctly and killed the motherboard instead of simply removing the 2 DIMM slots.

Yes i was thinking that part as you memtion, but is there any issue on the display? i mean if you get an Nvidia you should have IPS and viceversa?

I saw the thread about removing the two sticks of RAM but it seems that ended on nothing.

Yeah that was me, motherboard died in the process. Luckily the motherboards are extremely cheap so I can try a few times before throwing in the towel.

Nvidia is a waste of time, only the original GPU's it came with will work, AMD is the way to go. But yeah it would be non-IPS display.

Well m6600 is in the price range i could get one, however i should get one with an AMD GPU, I am seeing a couple with M8900 is it lower than M6100? But i am wondering if it will have the same issue with the BIOS as unknown VGA card. And it will have switchable card for battery?

M8900 = 6970m and no siwtchable card exists. Enduro was not supported back then, Optimus only.

If you get one, then one with the m8900 would be advised for more ease with other AMD GPU's

M8900 is poorer compared to the m6100. Odd naming schemes I agree lol

Yes i could get it and here i could sell even this one on 200 bucks with the i5 and a 500gb HDD lying arond there with 4 or 8 gb of ram

M6100 should be 75% faster but does it should get that massive 240w adapter?
