For me, the physical size of the 9-cell (going out beyond the back of the laptop) ruled it out. With the 6-cell, the M4500 *just* fits in my laptop case. With the extra depth of the 9-cell battery, I would have had to buy a new case. Linux tells me that I'll get 2-3 hours of runtime on the 6-cell battery, but I haven't really tried it yet. The 6-cell battery at about 90% charge was enough to fully install Win7.

Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket batteries? For my Latitude D820, the battery lasted maybe two or 2-1/2 years before failing totally. I'm not sure how long to expect my 6-cell battery for my M4500 to last. The battery for my now 7-year old C640 is still working fine.

I'd love to know this as well.

Also, does anyone know of a slim power adapter for this? Thing is a brick!

Yep, 3 years, just like the new ones. You also have the option of adding extra like completecare, etc.

I've had 3 laptops from the outlet. Physically there is NO WAY you can tell them from a new one. The only way is the sticker on the bottom and the packaging.

    Good luck guys!
