Is it possible for anyone here to post pics of the M4500 from different angles? I've seen the photos from early in the thread, but what I haven't seen yet are shots comparing the size/thickness of the M4500 (and the power brick) relative to possibly another machine or everyday objects. This would really help my decision in purchasing this notebook.

Also, I don't know if anyone here carries their notebook in a backpack, but as a student, I am looking at buying the 17" swissgear pegasus backpack. I want to make sure that if I were to purchase the M4500, that I would have no trouble carrying that around in the pegasus along with textbooks/other essentials.

Does anybody know when the 740QM or 840QM will be available in this machine?

I hear it too but as you say, I must put my head on the speaker grid. So it's not annoying but for a high-end product it'sa little bit disapointing.
Is your M4500 is hot? What cpu/gpu have you got?

So I've been looking at getting one of these, but I'm having trouble deciding between a few things.

    1) i7-620M versus i7-720QM
    2) 6-cell versus 9-cell battery
    3) FX880M versus FX1800M

I have a feeling that my answer to #2 will determine the answer to #1, since it sounds like the battery life of a 6-cell with the quad-core will be pitiful. I need to get somewhere between three and four hours out of it on a charge.

#3 depends on power usage - I noticed that the FX880M has 10W lower TDP, so it's probably slightly easier on the battery. The difference in graphical power looks significant, though, and I could use it.

I'd like to go with the 6-cell if at all possible (to save my back), but I haven't seen any battery life figures with it anywhere. I've searched through this thread and through several reviews, but everything I've found has referenced the 9-cell. Would I be able to get 3-4 hours on a charge with the 6-cell and an i7-620M? If not, it sounds like I might as well go with the quad-core and the 9-cell, since I don't really need the 7 hour+ battery life that's been reported with the dual cores and the 9-cell.

Thanks for any help that you can provide. :)

I have an M4500 on the way.

A few questions hopefully someone here can help with.

    1. Are the keyboards compatible between the M4400 and the M4500? I picked up a refurb without the backlit and M4400 backlit keyboards are all over ebay for 20 bucks.

    2. Does any E-series docking station work? Here is an ebay link I am considering:

    Dell Latitude E-Series Docking Station CY640 YP021 - eBay (item 280524951593 end time Jul-22-10 15:00:30 PDT)

    3. Do M4400 power supplies work for M4500 as well?

    DELL PRECISION M4400 M4400n PP30L AC ADAPTER X408G - eBay (item 300445705831 end time Aug-11-10 02:28:34 PDT)

    1. I haven't tried, but I have both M4500 and M4400's at work... The keyboards look identical...

    2. Yes, that is the right dock for an M4500... or M4400... or any Latitude E-Series....

    3. Yes... Also any power supply for an E-Series or D-Series... Although my M4500 needs a 130W to run at full speed.

    $939 bucks.

    I7 620M
    4 gigs ram
    DVD/CD-RW
    500 gig 7200 rpm hd
    FHD 1920x1080 WLED Anti Glare
FX 880M Video Card. I tried to hold out for a 2800M but all things being equal, it's about $150 bucks add on and I couldn't justify it.
    9 Cell Battery
    Win 7 Pro
EXACT same 3 year NBD warranty

Some other junk I forget. Wish there was a coupon I could stack but it's I can't recall the last time I've seen a Business Outlet coupon.

The refurbs are some great deals. You just need to be REAL, REAL patient.
