I should also note that after running Prime95 for about 5 minutes all cores were reporting about 75C. Popped it out of the dock, and no dark spot.

I also noticed that the exhaust temp is cooler when it is docked. This could have something to do with it as well.

It's the inverter board causing the mark on the screen. Call in and get it and the LCD replaced. I had one do the exact same thing.

It definitely has good cooling. I tested one system using Furmark and Heavy Load running at the same time. It ran both with relative ease. Furmark was running with 8x anti-aliasing too.

The fan exhaust was warm for sure, don't know if I would call it hot. The rest of the system was cool to the touch in the dock and out of it.

Confirmation from my part as well. I didn't even reinstall Windows, I simply removed the Dell software (except for the touchpad driver) and the stuttering disappeared...

Btw, every time I start Microsoft Word it asks me for a smart card. Does anyone know how to turn off that feature?

Can anyone advise as to what the maximum desktop resolution is for the M4500 with an external monitor?

Through DisplayPort (assuming a monitor that can handle it and the proper cabling) it should be 2560x1600.

    Through VGA, I'm pretty sure it's 1920x1280.

Through a port replicator, it has the ability to run 2 DisplayPorts at 2560x1600. If you have the E Port Plus, it can do it through DVI as well if you have the BizLink adapters.

Well just to keep everyone updated + some other things...

    1. Dell are currently building a new laptop for me and expected date is 28th June. Despite them asking for this one back, I've booked the return date of the faulty one on the 28th too.

    2. Heat Spot. I found my laptop in an "on" position this morning which means something woke it up from sleep mode. The lid was closed and vents were blocked...after what must have been at-least 20 hours in that state (judging by uptime stats), no black marks were on the screen. The laptop itself was very hot but no issues. Mines the 1920x1080 screen.
What woke it up is another story because all it has is W7 installed and nothing else - even wifi was off!

    3. The stuttering with mouse cursor is caused by the DCP SECURITY and not the DCP on its own so uninstalling the security will fix this.

On another note, if anyone does need me to test anything (within reason), do let me know as I can do this on this current M4500 before it goes back.

Currently, I am investigating the stuttering issue with different versions/variations etc

And lastly, can someone confirm the MP of the camera. I've been reading various threads indicating they have 3mp camera but I only had a choice for 2mp.
