I am thinking of getting a precission m4400 with the rgb led at 1920x1200. Does anyone have this display and if so what do you think?

Also, how does intrepid mesh with the hardware? what works and what doesn't? specifically nvidia support for the quadro 770 and hibernate/suspend support?

I have only used ubuntu 8.04,and it didn't have support for the intel 5100 wifi, apparently 8.10 does.......but haven't got around to installing it yet.....I don't ever use hibernate or suspend so can't help you there.

With regard to RGBLED,http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=333840 or around 3/4 of the way through the M4400 owners lounge is where some people started to receive them with RGB's.

Considering how anticipated the RGB screen was,I would have thought we would have seen more pictures and comment's about how great they are.....the M6400 pictures kindly posted by intoxicate in the thread I linked to above shows a great difference in colours......maybe the M4400 RGB isn't that great.......hopefully some of the RGB owners will let you know.

    Hello
I have ubuntu 8.10 on M4400 (wubi). Video works, WIFI intel 5300 works, hibernate works.

Web cam doesn't works out of the box. I'm not searching drivers yet.
Standby mode - I don't know, I'm not using it.

My screen is 1440x900, not RGB.

I have a M4400 with the RGBLED for about two weeks now. In the beginning the colors were really shocking to me. They are so bright I thought something was wrong with the display.

But with some playing around in the NVidia control panel I managed to get some softer coloring. Still not 100% satisfied, but I think it's just a mather of getting used to it.

My previous laptop was a MacBook Pro with WLED display but the difference between the 2 is huge.

    Hello shrndegruv,

I have a M4400 with an RGBLED screen. The first thing I want to note is that unless you need glasses and don't have any you don't have to fear that text will be too hard to read. In fact, I never want any lower resolution anymore, you go so much space.

I really love this screen. It makes all other notebook's screens I look at look like they're ten years old. Seriously.

Do you have any specific questions about it?

i agree completely. when i got my first high res screen it was a traditional 4:3 ratio UXGA (1600x1200) screen on a inspiron 8200. it made my desktop and everything else look horrible. but it was of limited use really, since it was a square display

then i got an inspiron 8600 with 1920x1200 WUXGA, it blew me away. its like having 2 monitors, i can open 2 windows side by side. its really a gem. i can never use a lower resolution screen again. its just too convenient.

one example of my use is when writing a report etc, i can keep my word document open side by side with a powerpoint window, or web page

or if im just chilling out surfing the net, i can put firefox on the left side and MSN windows on the right side so can chat and surf without minimizing/switching windows.

be warned though, its like a drug, once you get it, all other lower res screens will seem unsatisfying :D
