Hi everyone. I recently got the M2400 and it seems to run a little too hot. Even under light use the fan keeps kicking in at full speed. I can see the GPU temps climb up to 60 degrees during idle at which point the fan goes to full speed. What kind of temperatures are you getting with the 370M?

    Hi,

Attached is a screenshot of my M2400 temps...

It's taken without the battery, connected to the AC adapter.

Also, i've put it on a cooler pad as it allows air-flow ( without turning on the cooler pad fan ).

BTW, do you have any issue with your INTEL wifi 5300 ? The moment i connect my M2400 to a battery, the wireless will "drop" after a while :(

    Regards,

    Jon Lau

Yeah mine seems to be running a bit on the high side, though I don't know if it has anything to do with Aero being enabled in vista. I'll try to run some games to see how high temps climb and if there are any lockups.

So far I have never had an issue or a dropout with the Intel 5300 while the battery is connected. But then again I have used only a single wireless network which has a strong signal.

It looks the the GPU is generating some heat, even under light usage. Turning off Vista's eye candy might help.

The underlying problem is that Dell are trying to keep the GPU temperatures as low as possible to minimise the likelihood that they will need to replace the GPU. If you don't know the background, start here.
