I should've clarified—it took them four years to put an OLED panel in a notebook again.

Also, 7540 service manual is up.

Looking closely at the 'Removing the base cover' page, they've clearly reused the Precision 7530 images.

    Heh.

Unfortunately the Dell workstations have been this way since the 7510/7710 (released in 2015). The fans are accessible if you remove the bottom panel (easy to do), so you can blow them out, but you can't actually remove them without tearing the system down.

They didn't change the keyboard (dedicated home/end keys still present) thankfully.

In other words, they took the 7530/7730 chassis and components, plopped in the 9th-gen CPUs and RTX GPUs, maybe swapped around some motherboard components, and called it a day. Not that I'm complaining, though. It means I could even upgrade to the 9880H or something by getting a new motherboard.

Another thing to check on first. They've been known to change positions of, say, screw holes in the motherboard even when successive generations look the same on the outside. Pretty sure 7510 and 7520 were compatible in this manner, though.

Going by the service manual, it appears even screw locations are precisely the same. In fact, barring some rearrangement of the content, the two manuals (7530 and 7540) seem to be practically the same document.

Thanks, Aaron. Wish they would reconsider this type of design.

Better than HP's keyboard layout, at least.
