    Hello,

This is my story with Dell service:
    My laptop configs are
    core i7 6920HQ
    GPU AMD Firepro W7170m
before months i faced Fan malfunction error
i sent the laptop to Dell service center (In Jordan - Middle east), and they have changed the heatsink, but i noticed from the photos they sent that they installed heatsink for Nvidia (i have recently noticed that)
    This one for Nvidia
    https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=22698
    and this for AMD
    https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=24649

i noticed that there are huge temperature difference in CPU cores specially Core (1 and 3) while core (0 and 2) have reasonable Temperatures please refer to this stress test :

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1wD2jgi9xHOsT2MFnUFN_pT4wlJvCEPBV

after that i resent my laptop again to service center and they have changed the heatsink again with Nvidia and changed the motherboard ( at that time i stil didn't know that AMD have different heatsink from Nvidia)
this is the replaced heatsink i took a picture for it after they replaced it:

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1SCZJwMW_aOVNS2UYiofW1lMypdXuFrNL

you may notice wear in CPU thermal pads due to compression and please have a look at cpu thermal paste i doubt that there is something wrong in paste distribution.
after they replaced the heatsink again the temps difference stills.

My current belief that thermal pads are thick from CPU side and they make the heatsink to bent so the temps from that side become uneven, am I right?
can anyone advice me for the suitable thermal pad thickness ? if they are the issue.

    Excuse me for my language

I had similar issue except I have an nvidia gpu and dell sent me heatsink wrong. In my situation the problem was the CPU was not making any contact with the thermal paste on the copper. From this I had very high temperatures.

It seems in your situation the CPU and GPU are making contact with the thermal paste and spreading nicely. Really strange that you have such high temperatures. To my eyes (except for the part#) the heatsinks look almost identicle. Is it possible that Dell mislabled your heatsink as AMD when it is really an Nvidia in packaging? They've done stranger things... once they sent me a heatsink with the fan wires missing.

If you suspect they installed the wrong heatsink, you may be better off ordering the part and installing yourself. Or else send it to Dell yet again and demand they not send it back until it idles in the 40 c range, else the've not solved the problem.

Perhaps someone here will have better ideas

    Thanks for the replay,
I'm planing to change the wear thermal pads and install another with lower thickness may be it bent the heatsink, and I also bought IC graphite thermal pads to install them also maybe these will make the contact more stronger, I have plans to do but before i proceed to them i need to take some advices and suggestion for improvements .
