Hi everyone! I'm really thankful for the info shared in this thread.
I have received my Precision 7750, and I was very glad with it, until I wasn't.

Has anyone encountered random freezes/hangs with your computers? I have searched a bit on the web, but I haven't seen any of these problems regarding the Precision 7750.
    Thanks in advance with this!

If it is a temporary freeze/hang, it could be from a hardware driver, or low-level piece of system software on your computer (firewall, antivirus, backup software, etc.). Use LatencyMon to investigate, it will show you all of the drivers that are active and how much time they are gobbling up.

If it is a full freeze/hang (system completely locked up, have to power off) then it is quite possibly a hardware issue... Especially if your system is pretty new and you haven't installed a whole lot of stuff. Many pieces of hardware could cause this — memory/RAM is a common one, though. You could run a long-cycle memory test like MemTest86 but that isn't guaranteed to catch bad memory. I would refer you to Dell support, and if they can't figure it out, ask for a full system replacement.

    Hi,
Have you noticed this new Intel Processor Power Management Utility version 38.5.
Useful or not? Same package supports a lot of different Dell models.

Now they have removed these lines from the home page. It was there few weeks ago.

For this package to take effect, the system power plan must be set to Balanced under the Additional
Power Settings. Also, the Power Mode option that is displayed when you click the battery icon,
should be set to Better Performance. This package only takes effect on AC power and not on battery power.

    Thanks for your response Aaron44126!

I did what you told me, used the LatencyMon App and it turned out that there were too many processes and drivers causing troubles. And nothing seemed to fix the problem (I tried installing different versions of drivers of the video cards, reinstalling DirectX, and many other things because LatencyMon was showing that those were the culprits).

I forgot to tell you that I also was using the WD19DC dock station, which in the end turned out to be the reason for all of the hangs and freezes - the cursor used to stay frozen for a couple of seconds while I was using it with the dock station. There was a power failure and the dock station shut down, and that's when I saw the proper functioning of the 7750 again.

I'm trying to reach Dell support service regarding the dockstation (which in fact was given to me by Dell as compensation for the troubles that I had with the Precision 7740 -they sent me 3 different equipments, and all of them could not work properly, ever-), to see what's going on - after testing the equipment in the pre boot menu, there was a message about a failure of the fan of the dock station (which in fact is working, I could hear it while the message was showing up in the screen) -, but have had no luck.
The service tag that appears on the dockstation sticker, it's not recognized on the Dell website.

Do you have any idea what could be happening here?

Go into the BIOS settings and disable "C-states" for the CPU and see if that takes care of your docking station mouse freezing issue...

I use my Precision 7550 (Windows 10) with a Bluetooth headset for VCs. However, whenever I do not speak for sometime, the headphone gets disconnected. The same headphone works flawlessly on other laptops (with Windows 10) and on android phones. Seems to be something with the implementation of Bluetooth on the 7550.

I also use a USB professional sound card (MOTU), which does not go well with the 7550. Does not get detected at times and when detected, first starts dropping sound after some use and then just freezes.

Any pointers to correcting the above mentioned problems from the gurus here will be deeply appreciated.

    Thanks for your answer Aaron44126!

I tried what you suggest but it didn't worked for me.

BUT I was able to fix the issues with the freezings and the hangs with my Precision. After the power failure I told you about that left my pc working on battery, I tried to use the dock station again. And it worked just fine! Until I plugged in the HDMI cable to the damn thing.

At that point, I started troubleshooting the dock by checking with what cables connected to the dock, the PC started to hang or freezee. After discarding the USB cables and the ethernet ones, I realize that ONLY connecting the HDMI cable was causing the problems. So, I check on the BIOS settings and saw that next to the Enable Switchable Graphis checkbox -which was checked-, the was also another one, the "Discrete Graphics Controller Direct Output Mode", also checked. So, I gave it a try and unchecked the "Discrete..." checkbox, restarted the pc, and BOOM; it WORKED!

No more freezes or hangs since then.

I don´t know if it is a problem with the Nvidia drivers from the Dell website, I still need to give it a try with the ones from the Nvidia website, But for now, this works for me.
If you have any other thoughts about this issue, please let me know!

I think I'll try the Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia website to see if I can have the "Discrete..." checkbox checked without the freezes. One question though, what would be the benefit of having this option selected?

    Thanks again for everything!

With this option selected, the dock display is connected directly to the NVIDIA GPU. With it disabled, the dock display is connected to the Intel GPU (like the internal display is).

    Thanks for all the input!
An update on this matter. I updated the video cards drivers, using the latest ones that were on intel and nvidia websites, and now, even with the "Discrete..." video option selected on the BIOS, I don't get the usual freezes or hangs I was experiencing. For now, I'm leaving the "Discrete"... option unchecked, since the Precision 7750 seems to be more responsive this way.

One question in other regards. I'm planning on upgrading the RAM on this machine, since I found a new home for the 128 GB of RAM I currently have on my Precision 7750: I found out that my Precision 5510 accepts up to 64Gb of RAM at 2666 Mhz, and it works great there. The other 64GB of RAM, I installed them on a Inspiron of my father and it also accepted them!

So, now I want to get the best non ecc RAM I can install on the Precision 7750.
I was checking on the thread (and searching on the web), and I saw these ones should be a really good option:
    HyperX Impact 64GB 3200MHz DDR4 CL20 SODIMM (Kit of 2) Laptop Memory HX432S20IBK2/64

    https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-HyperX-Impact-Tarjeta/dp/B084929MWL

    Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance for your help with this!
