    I'm considering a 7730 with a 4k display, P3200 or P4200, E-2176M, & the TB18DC dock.

I'm curious if I can use the laptop display with 3 external monitors attached to the dock via HDMI, DP, & mDP. The external monitors would most likely be 1920x1200.

TB18DC supports up to 3 monitors, so I suppose you should be fine.

This configuration works. (I've done it with 3x 1080p monitors, anyway.) With 4K external monitors you can only have two attached to the dock. (In case you upgrade in the future.)

Anyone know why the 7530 can't be configured with P3200 if you don't select the 94whr battery and change the storage to m.2 ssd?

Presumably the P3200 draws a certain current, and combined with the CPU, the 64 Whr battery is unable to supply that amount of current draw. The 99 Whr battery also occupies the space used by a 2.5" SATA drive, so selecting the P3200 means no 2.5" SATA drive and no 64 Whr battery.

But I already only get 6 hours from the 99 Whr battery. 64 would give less than 4.

BS price hike, can't buy without storage either...

I don't need the M.2 upgrade, already have my own SSD. I wonder how can I configure this without buying the pricey M.2 while still having the 99whr battery.

Does XTU work on 7530 with 8750H? or is the power limit hard locked and cannot be changed at all? @CR3

Dell won't sell the system without storage. You must have M.2 storage if you buy the larger battery. You must have the larger battery to get the P3200.

It's an unfortunate series of requirements but each of them has a good reason. Buy the cheapest M.2 drive and sell it off afterwards...

I mean, I've seen a great many laptops with the GTX 1070 and a 60 Whr battery, and the runtime is 3 hours because the notebooks have a 120 Hz G-Sync screen... Better longer battery life guaranteed. Yes, the SSD is a pain, but you get some, you lose some...

No, does not work. Power limits are locked, even with ThrottleStop. However, I re-ran Cinebench (40 times in a loop) with some ThrottleStop tweaks, and got remarkably consistent, and consistently high scores:

Clocks were 3.9 GHz throughout the test, except for the first one.

The smallest one is 256GB, they don't even offer the option to go 128 :|

I'll see if I can get the price down, else it's a no go for me.

The 8750H is 3.9GHz on all cores, so you think it'll retain the full boost within the dell specified TDP?

If TS and XTU doesn't have an effect on the TDP raise / lower, what did dell lock it at for long and short?

Are there options in the bios to raise it to a higher TDP/performance mode like in the Alienwares?

Very possible—the Precision 7530 actually has some seriously good cooling. I daresay it's the best-cooled non-LGA 15" notebook.

Short power limit is 90 W, long is 60W. No power options in BIOS, except to enable threads, C-states, etc.

So, I noticed a terrible kink in my CPU's heatpipe... Should I ask for a replacement? Temperatures are fine, though...
