I would like to see proof of this running some sort of load.

 

Pics or it didn't happen, man. It's what everyone is asking for here. Get some screenshots of the 125 W GPU.

 

The whole sentence got cut off. It said 125w GPU, 199-200 Total System Power in HWInfo64, and 215-221w at the wall on the Kill a Watt according to my notes. Planning to get pics for you.

 

This is the stock OC2 setting in Alienware Command Center. Edit - That is single core only.

above is my result. machine is 2186m+64G ECC+P5200+4K+2T+1T+256G.
this is the result of burning P5200 along, after repasting. (7783 on P5200, and Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut on 2186)
GPUZ shows a stable 1404mhz or so (never close to 1500mhz at all), and GPU power onaverage is 106.878w(not close to 125w at all). Based on these, and check the description on notebookcheck, this is a max-q version.

 

Heh. I think it's been proven many times that "5GHz" overclock preset is a lie. The scores are way low for a 5GHz OC due to the constant throttling (check the purple line at bottom):



That's a Physics score befitting 3.5GHz, not 5GHz. You can see it drop to around 3.5 during the Physics and Combined tests at the end.

 

Actually XTU is useful when undervolting. Lower voltage can make the CPU clock higher while consuming the same amount of power.

 

He was talking about raising power limits, which are locked out by Dell. XTU is simply an interface for adjusting BIOS settings. If the firmware is restricted, XTU can't change those settings.

 

Thank you for your explanation. Sure man, you can do that. I just hope dell could unlock the power, unfortunately, they locked the power.
If power can be unlocked, life would be much easier.
