    Yeah, fair enough...

Er, you've got a 4K display, haven't you? Could I trouble you to pry your bezel off, unscrew the display and get a photo of the label on your cable, on the underside of the display?

    :/

    Thanks very much...

Dell Optimus is not borked, something is not going right with your specific laptop. Did you see the replies I made, particularly for your benefit, detailing my settings and also my experiments showing my power draws and interesting findings regarding this?

I’m getting way lower power draws then you on idle even though my setup (4K/UHD PremierColor panel, 3x Samsung Pro NVMe SSDs) should draw more power than yours. I use hybrid graphics and my idle battery power draw can dip into 8.8 - 9W.

Also, I don’t understand why you are complaining about the panel selection you made (to obviously save money) when you could’ve selected a much better UHD DreamColor panel? Just because Dell offers really crappy panels with this model doesn’t mean your should get one.

Guys, if I'm not mistaken no major notebook vendor currently sells high-end business laptops with a HDR capable panel, i.e. 10-bit native or 8-bit + FRC, 4K/UHD, wide color gamut, eDP 1.4 connected panel. No one... so why would Dell offer HDR panels on the Precision line. If you wanted an HDR panel you shouldn't have bought a business laptop, it's not the right segment to see such things first. More likely gaming laptop.

We're not asking for HDR here, just full 8-bit color support so that it can show the full 24-bit color space (which has been standard for "regular" panels for... well over a decade, before HDR was a thing). Clearly they used to be offering these — see my 6-year-old M6700, and that is with the "regular" TN 1080p screen (they also offered a 10-bit IPS screen in this one which I don't have). They don't need to be skimping with 6-bit panels.

Not sure if this will help you, but the 4K/UHD IGZO on the 7530 display is this panel LQ156D1JW02

The interface type on Panelook says 40-pin

It is the 1080p panels that they are offering that I am complaining about here (even though I have the 4K panel).
