Arhg! There is always something. I just started hearing this irregular buzzing sound, have no clue where it comes from. It''s only possible to hear when the fans are off. I started hearing this just now, i updated BIOS yesterday. Wonder if it has anything to do with it.

The sound goes more or less away when i unplug the power...but it is still there... The sound is not loud, but i hear it easily sitting normal in front of the laptop. It is annoying... Anybody else with this? I'm quite sure it's not from the speakers.

Just an observation regarding the keyboard stuttering:
I replaced my 'Cherry Strait Black 3.0' by a 'Sharkoon Pure Write'. I had no stuttering with the Cherry. The Sharkoon has stuttering. Maybe Sharkoon is switched into 'power save' mode more often because required power consumption is higher (it has a keyboard backlight) ?

Most probably coil whine. It is said to be dependent on what state the processor is in. Maybe the upgrade changed something in this matter. I've been experiencing similar thing on my 7530, but only occasionally it becomes loud enough to be actually annoying (and only in really quiet environment). Supposedly, if you disable C-states in BIOS, the effect should either go away or be much less noticeable.

Has anyone purchased a 7730 with the AMD pro WX7100 yet? It seems adequate enough in power, while being a bargain compared to the NVIDIA options out there. I've used both products extensively(own 2 1080ti's) and understand the superiority in Nvidia's engineering and polished drivers.... however, when it comes to laptops, I don't know if the HUGE premium is worth it in this case. The WX7100 seems like a decent performer at a bargain price, I'd be using the machine for video editing, CAD, and dapple more into 3d animation, but trying to get the "better bang for buck".

Also, while searching, I understand that the new 7730 series does not use MXM, but the GPU is removeable.... Would anyone happen to know if it would be feasible to later easily swap out the wx7100 for a more powerful Nvidia card a few years down the road?(then again I guess it also depends on how long Dell plans to use this new proprietary GPU form factor, if they changed it every generation then newer components won't be available for previous generations).

It seems that the same heatsink is used regardless of the GPU choice (unless you get this machine with Intel graphics only) so you should be able to swap out the AMD card for an NVIDIA card. AFAIK no one has attempted any sort of GPU swap yet, but we do know that the system will not run with the dGPU removed (unlike prior systems which would run on the Intel GPU in this case). There is no good source for DGFF cards, they're not available on eBay or other places yet, and I don't imagine that Dell spare parts department would be able to ship you one (even if they could, the cost would be quite high). At the moment your options would be limited to other cards that ship with this system (P3200, P4200, P5200); it remains to be seen if future generation cards will be backwards compatible at all...

At least now Thunderbolt allows for a promising extensibility/upgrade option in the GPU space. (Albeit a Thunderbolt enclosure would be a pain to lug around.)

Gotcha, thanks for the reply, good to know that it appears that you can drop in another card, and also didn't know that the system would not run without a dGPU, strange feature.

Those are my exact concerns and thoughts as well-regarding availability of DGFF cards, Dell being the sole provider of it's proprietary cards(I made a similar post on another thread venting off on this too-I see that you've also posted on that thread as well). I guess I'll have to contemplate more on the purchase.

It's normally not hard to find Dell-branded Quadro MXM cards (cards specifically pulled from Dell Precision systems) on eBay. I suspect that DGFF cards will show up given enough time. These systems have been around for less than four months... Not that much time for people to be tearing stuff apart to sell piecemeal.

If you order the system without a dGPU, you still get some kind of pass-through card installed in the dGPU slot (the mDP and HDMI ports are attached to that card after all). It seems that the system is not happy without something installed there.

This is not related to this dell precision line nor sharkoon keyboard, but I happened to have similar experience with a mechanical keyboard of mine. Eventually I found out that the anti-ghosting feature was the culprit. I got it disabled and everything is fine (I'm no gamer so I don't care about anti-ghosting).
    Hope this helps

Disabling the enhancements doesn't fix anything.

I came across another audio problem. Appart from latency issue, I'm unable to play the following MP3 file in some specific cases:

    https://sendit.cloud/mkmt3e7xiy0k

The file is not correctly played in Groove Music, Windows Media Player and Microsoft Edge, when speakers are plugged into a WD15 Dell Dock on Realtek USB audio output. Sound is terrible and unintelligible. It is audible on internal speakers. I can reproduce the issue using Google Translate.

The same file has issue in some cases in VLC: sound is perfectly played on TV throught HDMI output, but is chopped 1 or 2 seconds before its end on WD15 and on internal speakers. You should hear the final [tas] in "fartas" from the following esperanta sentence: Bonan vesperon kiel vi fartas.
