Precision 7510 dead? AC Adapter good, brand new battery. Still won't boot.

Trying to help a friend troubleshoot his machine. The battery swelled and died about four months ago, since then it's worked great on AC power only. Last week, it wouldn't turn on.

His AC adapter works great with my M4800, and he just replaced his battery.

Trying to boot gives a sequence of 4 white and 2 amber blinks - we think it may be a memory failure, but please let me know if you have any idea what's wrong.

Just ordered new memory.

 

Did you try reseating the memory first? Or try one stick at a time.

 

try to take out all RAMs and re-install them. Sometimes that fixed the problem for me.

 

Yeah, one of the two turned out to be bad. So we pulled that to get him running, and he put the two we ordered in and ordered one more.

Tonight we'll take it apart and fill the other two RAM slots. Might as well take the opportunity to do a RAM upgrade.

 

All went well - he's looking forward to using the 32 GB for Revit work.
