    If I were to replace the HDD that came with the laptop with an SSD (or put the SSD in the other empty slots), would I need a spacer/adapter?

    You might. Some SSDs come with a spacer in the package, or you can also use a small piece of cardboard.

    I don’t think so. I’ve installed multiple SSDs in my M6700 without a spacer. I can see that it is a bit smaller, but they fit fine and it hasn’t been a problem.
