Precision 5550? ...

Have anyone news about the next precision laptop?

I talked with a Dell rep and got some hints...
The “5550” will have a new architecture.
Same screen size but even thinner borders on the side and a lot thinner under. Resulting in a smaller footprint.
Maybe integrated numpad in touchpad (like in an Audi)
Same keyboard, but smaller palmrest due to smaller footprint.
Two M.2 drives and no SATA.
Estimated before summer 2020

I would really like to see a mobile internet option, that is the only thing I miss from my previous “bulky” precisions...

Reps don't know anything more than you or I about upcoming product plans. The ones that are high enough up to know about new product plans are (should be?) smart enough not to drop details to the public before it is time. We have heard plenty of stories of speculating reps dropping "information" that turned out to be incorrect.

Anyway.
The Precision follows Intel's CPU refresh cycle. 12-15 months is normal but it is not a totally hard rule. If you want to know when the next generation of Precisions will launch, that's what you should pay attention to. Presumably we will see 10th gen "Comet lake" CPUs launching in January for desktops. It will take 4-6 months after that for the mobile CPUs to be ready and then another month or two after that for the Precisions using them to be announced.

I would say summer 2020 is the earliest we could expect to see these but "late summer" is what I would guess.

Probably it's just GeForce rtx3060,3070,3080 or similar.

Under Turing generation, they've launched quadro desktop gpu before geforce counterparts.

whereas quadro rtx mobile versions were all launched on May 27, 2019.

I also expect new Precision 7550/7750 with new 10th gen comet lake cpus (up to 10 cores this time)
but also with new gpus as well.

Do you think we will see quadro ampere 7nm gpu in time for 7550/7750 (but here i think nvidia should be able to release both desktop and mobile version by the end of june 2020) or just refreshed versions like rtx3200, rtx4200, rtx5200 ? (this was also the case under pascal generation with p3200,p4200,p5200 for 7530/7730).

 

Since Dell/HP/Lenovo do not refresh GPUs in between generations, mobile Quadros always launch at the same time as the workstation refreshes (which follow Intel's schedule) so you cannot read too much into the delay between desktop and mobile Quadro releases on the NVIDIA side. Bottom line, if Ampere launches before the next Precisions do then those Precisions are likely to include them, otherwise we'll get refreshed Turing cards and Ampere won't show up until the following generation.

If the timing is really tight then we might be waiting another generation anyway, since it usually takes NVIDIA a few months to have mobile GPUs ready after the desktop launch. The closest that I have ever observed was way back in 2012 when Kepler / GeForce 600 cards launched on desktops in April/May, and then the Precision M6700 was released in July and it did have mobile Kepler Quadros.

We've been hearing rumors for Ampere in 2020 but exactly when is still up in the air. I personally would be surprised if they are actually announced before August as a faster-than-two-year cycle would be unusual for NVIDIA.
