I have a USB-C HUB I picked up a few months back that worked just fine for a few days, but then it just stopped functioning. I don't think there were any windows or driver updates during the time it quit working, it just stopped data transfers and will not read external drives at all. Devices plugged into the hub are getting power, just no data transfer.

I have the current bios, driver, and NVM firmware, but I have noticed two possible problems.

    1. The bios upgrade says it completes successfully, but Dell Support Assist wants me to update the firmware I have already updated when I check for driver updates. The picture below is after successfully flashing the latest bios twice, but in the "installed" section it does not show the last two line items (Berlinetta Board map and the PCR0) as being installed.

    2. The thunderbolt 3 driver updates correctly, but when I update the NVM firmware I get an error message: "Thunderbolt firmware update is not supported. Your system does not contain thunderbolt."

Would these be the reasons why my usb-c isn't working?

This is strange, but normal, the "UPDATE" section always shows a few more line items than the "INSTALLED" section for some reason. Example here from my 7510 with fully functional Thunderbolt.

To verify that it is not a Windows/driver issue, maybe boot up Windows install media or a Linux live USB drive, and see if the USB-C port is usable outside of your main Windows installation. If it isn't, hopefully your system is under warranty, I imagine that Dell would want to replace the system board.

My test for checking if the Thunderbolt chip is alive is to run the computer on battery, run BatteryInfoView and note the discharge rate, then plug anything into the USB-C port and see if the battery discharge increases by around 3W.
