I might be able to get a new laptop for work. Looking at the Precision 4400 and E6500. I know this is petty but I like the external aesthetics of the E6500. Is this a no brainer. Am I being silly and should just get the Precision?

Is there any area that the Latitude betters the Precision at?

not really, the latitudes probably run cooler due to less powerful graphics, but on the whole the precisions are more powerful. if you dont like the look, i think someone managed to order it with a latitude screen? hopefully someone can confirm this

Yup indeed. A guy in the UK got an invoice saying he was getting a black lcd cover (not the same as the black finish mentioned in the configurator) and received the grey lid. Then callled Dell and pointed out the mistake and they sent a tech with the latitude cover :D
Don't know if this was a mistake though but could be they'll just make both covers available...they fit anyway so no reason not too.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I was wondering also about the LCD screen. I see Tru life as an option on the feature, but I don't see it as a selectable option on in the configuration window - just something called ultra sharp screen 1920 x 1200. There seems to be two options at that reso so I don't think that is the Tru life option.

For which laptop do you mean? For the m4400 there is only one option at WUXGA, that's the 2CCFL....truelife is the RGB LED and not available yet, no idea when it will be either :(
