In case anyone else was wondering: Dell-Mano_G very kindly and helpfully confirmed that there are no issues with interchanging the 2 power supplies from the M6600 & the M6700. They can each work on the other system.

However, if anyone has additional info or would like to comment on additional details of this issue/question, please read below and comment:

Has anyone purchased an extra AC adapter for the M6700? If so, what model number and Dell SKU etc.?

Is it correct that the AC adapter that Dell is shipping with the M6700 is different from the one that they were shipping with the M6600? The one for the M6700 appears to read as "slimmer". Is there any other difference?

I purchased the extra 240 AC adapter that Dell sold as an accessory for the M6600. Can anyone please confirm whether I can safely use this with a new M6700?

The extra AC adapter that Dell sold with/for the M6600 was a different adapter (at least in model number/SKU) than the AC adapter that shipped with the M6600. Does anyone know the reason for this or if it makes any difference? But my main question is from the paragraph above this one.

Thanks. Everyone, especially the pros/adepts, on this forum are great!

I bought three extra power supplies for my M6700. (Call me crazy, but I like to leave one in a few different places so that I don't have to bother connecting/disconnecting it when I move around.)

The model number is PA-9E. It's the same model as the one used on the M6600 (though the Dell part number may have changed). So, you should be good.

If you're careful, you can get good ones at a discount on eBay (though I'm sure that there are lots of off-brand "compatible" parts on there as well .... like I said, careful). These are the ones that I purchased. I haven't had any trouble and they seem identical to the one that came with the system.

The Delta and Flextronics 240W PSU (like the one used on my Alienware) work with M6600 and in turn should work with M6700.

The 210 watt adapter is still an unknown. The M6700 pulls more power than I have personally measured on the M6600. Just make sure to use the thin 240 and you will be fine.
