I may have gotten my self into a predicament. I am an elctronic technician by trade and I dabble in laptop repair on side. Anyhow a friend of mine has a Dell Vostro 1500 that had a faulty screen where it would go so dim you could barely see anything on screen. Having determined that it was either the inverter or CCFL I recommended that we replace the bulb first since we found a replacement for $12.00. Anyhow, I researched as much as I could on how to disassemble the screen and found a tutorial.
I did the replacement (soldering the new bulb in) and the checked before assembly. The bulb stayed on completely and ended being the faulty component he had. I reassemble but apparently the screen layers delaminated somewhere in the process and the screen was ruined. My friend was cool with it since he knew how hard it was and expected to replace the screen anyways.

Finally down to the question. I replaced with a new screen however now when you turn it the CCFL lights up but there is no picture. All the lights are there and it apparently continues to boot up normally just without a picture. I tried reseating the video cable that is hooked to the back of the screen but that didn't help either. I hooked up an external monitor and that worked fine. Im wondering if it is a Bios issue because the monitor is not an exact replacement. The old monitor was revision A00 for 15.4" truelife and the new one is A03 revision. What else should/could I try?

If the laptop produces a blank/black screen, but is working perfectly on an external monitor, then it's most likely an issue with the inverter board. Either the cables are not connected properly, or the board itself is faulty. I would check to see if you have the inverter board connectors connected securely and if that doesn't help, try and get a replacement inverter.
