I am a Thinkpad user but extremely interested in the Dell M4400 and M6400 because of their seemingly better screens. I would love to get details on these screen, most importantly are the IPS ("FlexView")?

    Questions:

    1. What does "Edge To Edge" mean?
    2. What does "RGB" mean?
    3. Are any of these screens IPS "FlexView"?

    M6400:

17" WUXGA UltraSharp Display (1920x1200) Resolution
17" WUXGA RGB LED Back-Lit Display (1920x1200) Resolution
17" WUXGA RGB LED Edge To Edge Back-Lit Display (1920x1200) Resolution

    M4400:

15.4" WUXGA TrueLife RGB LED display (1920x1200) featuring 100% Adobe® Color Gamut
15.4" WUXGA AG day light viewing (1920x1200)

    Thanks greatly!

    Hi Paul

Edge to Edge (E2E) is used on the m6400 where the screen is covered by 1 glass plate, no bezel surrounding the screen.

RGB is the RGB LED lighted screen...other option would be a White LED backlit screen. RGB LED gives a much more accurate color representation and is about the best out there for laptops (correct me if wrong)

On the m4400 the RGB LED isn't available yet and there's no news of when it is going to be.

I have the 2CCFL WUXGA screen myself. 2CCFL means that it has 2 backlights instead of 1 which should give it a much more evnely lit screen....it doesn't though....i was very disappointed with mine :(

no ips in any of these :(

Hope that was what you needed to know...rep would be good ;)

    1) edge to edge means thers no plastic border around the screen.
    2)RGB is red, green, blue
    3) No, but the RGBLED display should be higher quality than the IPS screens. more accurate colour, and i believe its brighter with lower power consumption

So the Edge to Edge is purely ascetic?

Does anyone know the brightness and contrast ratio of these screens. It has to beat the Lenovo W500 with its 165nit brightness....

The Edge2Edge screen is also glossy because of the glass covering it. The others are matte.
