Over the phone and asking for their coupons and promo's I was quoted of a price (before tax) of $758.95 for the system specs above. Can anyone please tell me if this is a good price for the system....or if i may have some room to negotiate down and if so, would you have a suggested price I should try to pay?

Also, I only have the standard support -- would those reading this suggest i spend more money and add the support for 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 years....or is it not worth for that extra $100 or more on a system at this cost?

thank you in advance for your help!

    Hey Brian,

The best price I could come up with was $649.75 but that didn't include MS Office Home & Student 2013. I didn't see that as an option.

The one thing I would encourage you to consider is upgrading the display. The standard display is 15.6" HD (1366x768) with a maximum brightness of 220nits and claimed 300:1 contrast ratio. For around $65, you can upgrade to the 15.6" Full HD (1920x1080) with a maximum brightness of 300nits, 500:1 contrast ratio and Wide Viewing Angles. It's a far superior display in all respects.

Before you upgrade the Warranty on the E5530, you should also price a comparable E6530 which comes with a standard 3-year Warranty. I came up with a price of $863.80 for a comparably equipped E6530.

    Good luck!

I was offered an upgrade to the Full HD screen, upgrade to Read & Write DVD, upgrade to MS Office Business 2013 (over 2013 student) and keeping it at 1 year service....the price moved up only a little to $778.98 pre tax -- what are your thoughts? about the best deal i can get for those upgrades?

    thank you for your post

That's $100 in hardware upgrades + the addition of Outlook in the Business version of Office 2013 for around $20- NOT BAD! I think it's a solid deal for under $800 (before tax).

I was surprised to see that they've lowered the pricing on the Warranty Upgrades. You currently have 1-year Basic Coverage with Mail-In Service. Upgrading from Mail-In Service to NBD (Next Business Day) Onsite Service is $24.70 for 1-year OR you can get 2-year Basic Coverage with NBD Onsite Service for $65.00. It might be worth thinking about the 2-year option at that price...or if you could get them to do it for $50 or so??? Just a thought.

But the configuration and price sound like a good deal to me!
