I'm in need of a portable soundcard (for work with Cubase: Miroslav, Symphobia VSTs), preferrably one that can be inserted into the M4400 so I don't have to worry about carrying it around separetely.

As asfstingray recommended, I bought the PC-CARD version of the Echo Indigo (for about $90), but I'm beginning to worry that I'll just have to throw it away once I get a new laptop because soon, only ExpressCard slots will be offered with new laptops . . correct?

I know I could buy an external USB card reader, but that defeats the purpose of the portability to begin with.

If this is a the case, how would Creative Labs ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Sound Card compare in sound quality?

If it is comparable, I could sell the Indigo and buy the Sound Blaster for only $60. What do you guys think?
