So called our Dell rep and order 3 identical, pretty well loaded E6500's.

    Here's the config;

    E6500 Latitude
    P9500 2.53Ghz 6M Cache 25W
    2GB Ram 1 Dimm
    Vista Ultimate SP1
80GB 5400 rpm HD (intend to replace these with WD Scorp Black 320GB +$95)
    15.4" WXGA + LED 1440 x 900
    Intel 4500MHD GPU
    Backlit keyboard
    Intel 5300 WiFi (a/g/n)
    Dell 370 Bluetooth 2.1
    8X DVD +/- RW
    6 Cell/54Whr battery
    Internal Finger print reader
    90W power adapter
    65W travel adapter
    EPort Simple port replicator
    3yr wrty NBD onsite svc

    Total $1710 shipping included.

Our Dell rep was as usual great to work with. Now hopefully these machines will be as pleasant.

FYI, Dell is usually at least a week before the ESD unless there are parts on order.

Hello my cross-Czech friend (sorry I'm a silly hockey fan).

ETA on these machines shows 10 days (Oct 10th).

Thanks, I hope we both get to enjoy and have good times with these machines :)

The 65W PSU is excellent for travel. Unfortunately, Dell has unnecessarily crippled both performance and recharge (while the computer is on) when using this PSU.

Thanks for info the on the 65W slim PSU.

So even with the 4500MHD the 65W won't charge the batt when the system is on ? weird, but I'm glad I ordered both the 90W & 65W chargers.

Incidentally how do you find the Intel 4500MHD's GPU's performance ?
It's the first time I've ordered notebooks with onboard graphics, but I wasn't that impressed with the NV160 specs and benches and I think my users will appreciate the extra 1-1.5hrs of batt runtime.

As a side bonus the systems should also run cooler and therefore quieter.

Hope I made the right choice - otherwise I'm going to have 3 upset users on my back.

The 65W PSU will charge the battery while the computer is on - at a rate of about 2.5W! Turn the computer off / hibernate it (I didn't try sleep) and the charge rate goes up to a respectable 35 - 40W.

See my E6400 review for benchmark results for the Intel GPU. It is fine for my needs and means the computer stays cool as well as giving at least 20% more run time on battery. As far as I'm concerned, dedicated GPUs are an unwanted cause of battery drain and heat.
