If you put pressure on a key you can press the keyboard down a bit.

Not sure if that is what you call flexible.

But for me the keyboard tends to produce doubled input from time to time. So while writing every now and then a letter gets inserted twice even though I pressed it only once. I did not notice that on my m6500.

This is on battery with high perf power profile:

    Cinebench R10 x64

    Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4800MQ CPU @ 2.70GHz
Graphics Card : AMD FirePro M6100 FireGL V
    Rendering (Single CPU): 6758 CB-CPU
    Rendering (Multiple CPU): 25020 CB-CPU

    Multiprocessor Speedup: 3.70

    Shading (OpenGL Standard) : 9301 CB-GFX

Prime95 gets my cores down to 28x - 29x ratio

Will retest with original AC adapter when I am back in the office.

Cinebench on the 240w adapter gets a bit more:

    Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4800MQ CPU @ 2.70GHz
Graphics Card : AMD FirePro M6100 FireGL V
    Rendering (Single CPU): 6867 CB-CPU
    Rendering (Multiple CPU): 26269 CB-CPU
    Multiprocessor Speedup: 3.83
    Shading (OpenGL Standard) : 12053 CB-GFX

I am new to the forum as I have been having trouble with my M6800 and this looks to be a good place to start with lots of M6800 users.

I ordered my system a day or two after it was release and received it on September 23rd I think it was. From the initial startup, I have been experiencing random lock ups on it. I will be working away on it and it just stops responding, and other times I will be away from it for anywhere form 30 minutes to 2 hours and when I come back it is locked up.

I don't get a blue screen, I don't get any error messages, just locked up. The screen is still displaying like it is up and functioning, but there is no response from the system. The NumLock doesn't respond, the power button does not respond unless I hold it down for 5seconds. The only way to recover from this is if I hold the power button down until it forces it off.

I am running Win7 with the I7 processor if it matters.

I contacted Dell and they helped me with making sure all the current drivers were installed, and they even reviewed the Minidump files to see if there was a clue to the problem in there.

They determined it was probably a bad video card, so they sent a new one out and a technician came out and installed it yesterday.

As you can guess since I am asking on here, the problem still exists.

I am only on here looking to see if anybody else has experienced this same problem and found a solution. I really like the system, and it seems to do really well with what I ask of it, but the random lock-ups are not something I like!!

    Thanks in advance!!

    Richard

No, neither with bios a01 which I used a few days until a03 came out, which I currrently use. My system is from 7th of October.
I use Win 8.1 with all current Dell drivers. On work days the system runs about 10 ten hours next to my PC and I switch between them. So the m6800 usage changes between being used a while and running alone a while. Never had any problems when I got back to the m6800.

Seems to be specific to your machine. I think you should try to get a full replacement.

I did ask for a replacement. We will see what they say.

Thanks for the datapoint. It is good to hear it seems to be isolated to mine.

Does Dell have a 30-day return policy? (and are you still in that window?) I Know HP will normally do a system replacement if you have a problem that escalates to on-site within the first 30 days.

The Fans are definitely missing a speed step between idle and the current lowest setting.

Sat here with silence, CPU GPU both around 40c, then both temps gradually rise to 50c then fan kicks in quite loud, slowly pushes it back down.

I'd rather a constant slower fan speed.

Seriously considering a return as my ASUS G750 was much much quieter.

Any software that allows me to define my own speed steps that works on the M6800 or is it a moan at Dell and hope for a A04 with more options?

Just got my HDD frame for the media bay and put in my last drive which is an m4 512GB SSD.

Had to reactivate Office 2013 because of changed hardware but besides from that no glitches.

Shows up as sata III and works like that. Copying a vhd from the m4 to the 840 evo runs at 480mb/s :)

The DVD went into an external SATA box which is connected via eSata at the back of the m6800.

    All good :)
