Can anyone comment more on the quality of the 3350 screen? I'm a bit worried about it after reading some comments here..
I don't expect it to be amazing, but as long as its decent.

Also, how does the weight feel?
Spec wise it is pretty much what I'm after, but one of my main priorities is something fairly thin and light.
    Thanks!

Screen is OK, not bad nice that its matt. It is slightly grainy, but I'm a display snob and only buy Dell Ultrasharp IPS displays for desktops.

Good tilting angles on the hinge so you can keep it in the sweet spot for viewing easily.

Weight is decent, I checked the specs and its slightly lighter and thinner then a Macbook Pro 13" I think.

Thanks. At the moment I am not sure whether to get this, or wait and see if dell brings out a 13" version of their new xps 15z mac clone :)

Apparently the other SATA 3 port is used for eSATAp socket, while the optical bay uses one of the SATA 2 (not 1.5 ;) ) ports.

As for SSD, there's more important reason for replacing the internal HDD with an SSD - SSDs are commonly used as boot drives and HDDs are used as storage, so in this case, having a boot drive in the optical bay would make it difficult to use the original optical drive. Difficult, but not impossible, since it can be connected via eSATAp -> SATA cable (link).

The laptop feels weighty, but very handy ;)

If the specs are different you will have to return the one you got and reorder the one on sale, this happened to me with the latitude that I just got but the memory was 8gb instead of 4gb and it was cheaper by almost $200.00 but because the specs weren't the same I had to reorder and send this one back.

Soon I'll go to buy a Vostro 3450 with HD6630 graphics, but before I do I would like to know if any 2nd hdd caddy available yet?
I would be also happy to know something about the overclocking ability of HD6630:).

Sorry for the long wait on my feedback cause my Vostro 3750 arrived defective with a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen but I'll write a mini first impression on the laptop anyway.

Screen: Other than the dead pixel, the anti-glare screen is fairly good with good colors and not too bright but as others users have mentioned the dot pitch spacing on the screen still exists.

Built: Very solid, brushed metal chassis with no noticeable flex anywhere. Hinge seems very solid also.

Keyboard: Very nice looking, well spaced and feels really good typing but keys are a bit small (14x14mm).

Touchpad: Very big, smooth and a joy too work with. Too bad this one is ALPS and not Synaptics, future driver updates rely on Dell.

Cooling and noise: Very silent on the desktop but gets pretty loud while gaming (League of Legends) and the temps never go really high while gaming (70/65 degrees Celsius for both CPU/GPU respectively).

Others: The DVD drive is really loud and looks to be not fully closed (maybe also defective on my unit). The hard drive sits right on the bottom on the palms rest and touchpad making that surface area pretty warm while gaming. There is a faint high pitch noise emitting from the WD 320GB 7200 RPM hard drive, which I think has to do with the hard drive placement on the laptop.

I've called up Dell on my issue with the dead pixel and I will be returning the laptop for a full refund. I haven't yet informed them about the DVD noise issue on my laptop which maybe also defective just in the case they fix on the LCD and sell the laptop as a refurbished unit.

Apart from returning the laptop to Dell, I also have to call up another vender to cancel my order on Corsair 8GB ram and 500Gb Momentus XT, this has been a pretty bad experience for me with Dell (my first with Dell BTW).

Is there any reason not to use a spare AC adapter from a Latitude E6500.

The Vostro 3350 was 65w, when I plug in the 95w from the Latitude it works fine and detects OK in bios.

But just double checking its OK.

    Update:

I called up Dell about the issue with the dead pixel on the the Vostro 3750 and the rep was very courteous to help me with a replacement and cash back offer due to Dell's error and price drop. I had to think about the offer + replacement and told the rep that I'd call back with an answer after some thoughts.

Unfortunately after some thoughts about the offer, I''ll be returning my Vostro 3750 even though the offer is extremely tempting.

So all in all, my first experience with a Dell laptop is now stands at mixed. On one hand the laptop arrived defective but on the other hand Dell's customer service has been really helpful with my problem and provided very fit solutions for my situation.
