I just bought a new to me M4600. The only problem i'm having with it is that it is not charging when connected to the 180w power supply. I have tried disconnecting the power supply and reconnecting it but it will only say charging for a little bit of time before it changes back to 'plugged in, not charging'. The battery is currently sitting at 30%. Health of the battery in bios is Normal. The capacity of the battery is about 77wHr out of 97wHr.

Laptop runs normal with or without battery in place and at full speed.

I do not have another power adapter to test out or another battery to test out.

    Any recommendations?

    Bios Revision A13
    i7 2760QM
    8GB of Ram
    320gb 7200RPM HD
    nVidia Quadro 2000m
    Windows 7 Pro

I have also tried to uninstall the power management driver in device manager but that has not solved anything either. I've search the forums also but cannot find a solution. Does anyone have any recommendations other than buying a new battery and charger to see if that fixes the problem?

I would hate to return the machine to the seller since it is pristine condition and bought for what I think is a great price.

just check in the bios if there is not a upper limit to cut the charge off. I know on my precision 7710 and latitude e7240, there is a section in power management to set limits for charging the battery.

As far as I know and have checked the bios, there is nothing in there that will let me set a limit or threshold. I have even updated the bios to A16 and that has not helped or solved the problem.

Power management in bios only has option for express charge, or wake on AC.
