Bokeh, what where your settings on the U2410 and the M6500, before you
Started calibration on them, how clause to the target were you before calibration.

I am glad everything is working out. :)

    Thank You

I was using the U2410 with the M6300. I think I had the brightness around 30, contrast at 50, and calibration curves for the built in sRGB and AdobeRGB curves. I used the AdobeRGB setup for photo editing and the sRGB for web or video work.

I am in the process of recalibrating everything to get the M6500 display, the U2410, and the 2408 to all look the same.

It will be a few days before I finish everything. The U2410 (in AdobeRGB mode only) and 2408 are really close to being 6500K @ 2.2 gamma. When you do the before/after button at the end of the calibration, its much more subtle than the M6500 display. The U2410 in standard mode is 1.8 gamma and does not calibrate as well.

    Hi,

Has any of you already tried running Linux on this machine? Any particular problem?

Is the sound hardware fully supported?

Not very important, but what about the webcam? The fingerprint reader? The contactless card reader?

I guess that those will make no problem: Intel 5300 wireless, nvidia FX3800M,

I'm planning on using Ubuntu 9.10, but I can manually install drivers,... if they exists.

    Thanks,

I don't know about the other stuff, but the fingerprint reader doesn't even work with any Windows software, of any kind, with the sole and single expception of Dell's gloriously useless ControlPoint security software. So, I'd say forget about that one. Like I said, it is useless on any OS because of the non-standard way Dell shackled it to that Universal Security Hub.

Double Post, but I wanted to keep this info with the M6500 thread.

Ran Prime95 for an hour. Idle temp before was 41c. After an hour it was 74c. All 8 virtual cores are showing 100%. Max CPU temp for the day was 75c.

    Real Temp shows:
    Intel Core i7-920XM
    1995.08 MHz
    133.01 x 15.0
    CPUID 0x106E5
    Load 100.0%

Ran Futuremark 3D Mark 06 three times. GPU temp went from 41c to 53c after an hour of the CPU running Prime95 with little to no GPU load. Max GPU temp during 3 runs of 3D Mark 06 was 66c.

The CPU multiplier did change during testing. It went from 133.01 x 15 up to 133.01 x 16. Yeah, it overclocked into turbo mode a couple of times.

Re-ran the test with IntelBurnTest v2.3 for about 25 minutes. System was already preheated. I was not able to get past 75c with it on the cpu. Results the same. No throttling.

Only interesting thing to note was that with IntelBurnTest v2.3, it runs 5 tests back to back. In between tests the multipliers shoot way up and the temp falls.

    From the log file:

Anyone have a better test? I am willing to help out as long as any software used is well known as being malware free.

    Sweet!! :D

You just answered a lot of question for me. The M6500 takes a beating and keeps on ticking.

What power supply are you using the 210W/240W switchable Slim 3-Pin, AC Adapter
And what kind of RAM are you using 1600MHz or 1333MHz.

You double post all you want

1333 ram. Full sized 240 watt brick in the office with the dock. 240 slim when I go mobile.

Are you using E/View, Notebook Stand for Latitude E-Family/Mobile
This is what I am ordering with my M6500.

the 240 brick comes with the M6500 right?

I am going with 1600MHz RAM for AutoCAD Revit 2010.
