I bought this unit not one week ago for 1800. Now I put in a SSS into it now. I will consider 2000 for my unit. I will load it up tomorrow.

$1800 for 920xm/RGB/SSD? That is super sick. Mind sharing how? Just lucky? :D

    Thanks!

So it should be no trouble to install my own SSD boot drive? There are also larger SSD drives to consider for the 2nd drive instead of the Dell 7200rpm 500GB HDD.

Here's one way to think about processor cost; some of my applications' performance is directly tied to the single fastest core (and I don't know if clock speed trumps cache memory using those). If you compare the total laptop clock speed versus dollar, then it's almost a linear return to pay the premium for the i7-940XM versus save $610 for that i7-840qm. The ratio is a tad in favor for the i7-940XM in fact. In reality it may mean I keep the new machine for another 9-12 months. Adobe Lightroom 3 is much more of a hog than Lightroom 2 IMHO.

The best graphics card is historically what is needed to make some of the CAD and FEA applications, and even Photoshop run without fuss.

Bluetooth: All I have need for now is to use an older mouse that I quite like, and perhaps tether my Motorola Droid2 phone. So correct, I might not need the best bluetooth module. The choices cost $20 for the old #365 / $50 for the 420 UWB and $70 for the version 2.1. Hmmm...

Wifi: true I won't need WiMax, or even care what it is. But that card is only $15 more than the other Intel card. BTW, I figure the Intel cards to be better than the OEM Dell ones, just on a hunch since Intel makes the chipset. Just a hunch - anyone got opinions?

I'll call in to Dell to make sure I get a Matte screen.

So how much did you pay for the one with 920xm/ssd/rgb? Thx.

    Hello,
just picked up my M6500 here in Hong Kong today.
Everything looks fine: the machine is very beautifully built.
Seems like I got usb3 despite what the vendors said (I have two blue ones).

    however i have two questions:
    - they installed the wrong windows: vista chinese 32bit instead of W7 in english in 64bits. Now they will come and install windows 7 in my hotel room... My -maybe stupid-question is, are there any hardware problems related to the 32bit to 64 bit upgrade?
    - When I take off the battery, I see a small slot for mini SD cards weirdly cut out in a circle, what is it for and why is it there?

    thanks,
    claude

Ready to order. I'd like to use your favorite USA Dell Small Business salesperson. PM me their contact info if you please - thanks!

Still looking at the Crucial RealSSD 256GB ($620) newer model, CTFDDAC256MAG-1G1CCA. Is that a good choice for this M6500?

With 2 SSD's in it with the 920XM it was about 2600.

That is not a SD card slot, that is the SIM card slot for WWAN.
