hi guys, i purchase my M6500 on the oulet with real good discounts and the primary purpose of this laptop for me is games i know that sounds crazy but for the price i pay i could get an M15X so this machine is 10 times better than that

i call dell and order the ATI Firepro M7820 and they give me a good price with heatsink and fan included and my FX3800 is going to be for sale on the market by next week in case some one is interested to upgrade

i know the primary purpose of this machines is business-Developing and stuff that's why some body maybe interested on the FX3800 for a reasonable price

since this is not the marketplace i can't say how much but if some one interested shoot me a PM :)

That's exactly what the FIPS reader looks like. It's not a "swipe" reader in that you place your entire finger on it until authentication's complete. The white border is a foam substance of some sort.

Not sure about the other reader, though I assume it's more of the "slit" design. Someone else will have to comment.

The smart card reader thing on the right part of the palm rest is a decal that can be removed.

Incidentally, I had my entire palmrest assembly replaced today to solve my touchpad issues. Called last night to schedule the appointment, and the tech was waiting for me to drag my a$s into work this morning at 9:30am. Replaced and verified working in 15 minutes. Perfectly accurate at this point... surprising for a synaptics device.

As far as the overseas support guys, the horror stories suck. As far as I'm concerned, I've had a flawless experience with the Dell business support side of things. These are tools, not investments, so stuff will happen/things will fail. I'd pick team Dell over anything else I've used up to this point.

Hey oort, that is the difference between the FIPS compliant reader (hold to scan) and the matching black-surround standard swipe reader.

The smart card reader is nothing more than a slightly embossed logo on the right palmrest, can barely see anything.

Brilliant, the package set off from Shanghai the day after it arrived in Cologne... Supposed to be delivered here in the UK this Monday!

I had imagined Dell would have had workshops in each country or continent, to which the parts would have been shipped for local assembly - Do all their M6500's ship from Shanghai?
