it's me again, I'm struggling, what the hell could this be:

I use the M6500 as DAW, using Cubase. Cubase relies on ASIO drivers that stream audio to the hardware. It provides a Generic Low Level ASIO driver for generic windows sound cards, I have a Behringer UMA25S which is shipped with it's dedicated ASIO driver and I tried ASIO4ALL with the M6500 internal sound card and the Behringer UMA25S WDM driver...

No luck: with either method I get random sporadic audio dropouts, with the system nearly idle. When this happens, the audio stream is interrupted shortly, then continues.

Neither does DPC latency checker show me any latency spikes, nor do I notice any CPU usage spikes in the task manager or the Ressource Monitor.

It can't be the ASIO drivers nor the Audio Interface Hardware, as I tested with the internal sound card as well with the Behringer UMS25S USB interface. It can't be a driver problem, as I tested with different drivers. In either case, I get random sporadic audio stream interruptions.

I tried everything yesterday: I disabled any device I could in the BIOS. I tried with Network Devices switched on, switched off, I deactivated any Device Driver in Windows I could, I deinstalled any software I do not use, even though Win7 was installed fresh a few days ago. No luck.

I disabled as many beackground services as I could.

    Nothing does help.

    I'm clueless.

What can I do further, do investigate what causes the audio stream interruptions in a nearly idle system?

you try using the generic low latency driver in cubase?

try disabling digital output on asio4all also.

I just checked out the new beta 6 release of DreamLinux 4....pretty nice indeed....I haven't used it for over and year and it was buggy then...seems they've come a long way...

I'm using now PeppermintOS which is a fork of Mint LXDE...same guy.

I've found another problem and was wondering if anybody else is having it too. I use a BT mouse (either Logitech MX Laser or MS BT Notebook Mouse 5000).

Depending on some arbitrary formula, the mouse works between an hour up to 4 hours, then suddenly stops. Letting the BT search function try to find any transmitting devices then either takes a massively long time for any results (which don't do anything) or just keeps searching. The only way to work around it is to do a full restart of the system, remove the mouse from the devices screen and have the BT module do a new search to link them.

I did notice that after the first clean install, neither in Device Manager nor Control Panel, any BT hardware or link was visible. Windows update itself didn't update automatically to include BT software. I had to specifically download and install the software from the Dell site. And even that didn't set up the usual BT icon in Control Panel.

Yesterday, I removed the drivers and disabled/removed the hardware in DM, rebooted and suddenly, Windows Update began to automatically install the generic Windows driver. Still no icon in Control Panel though. And I still have the same problem that the connection cuts out.

I'm wondering if I should do a clean install again or if there's something wrong with the Dell 365 BT module.

Might go for a nice Debian system again -- I enjoyed Debian. Ubuntu was great a few years ago, but they keep setting up way too many things in badly documented ways, which makes it a bother to "boil down" to the bare roots. Then again, even installing the barebone system and installing packages from there leads to "interesting" side effects..

I thought it was just me :p I have had many pains with my Logitech Mediaboard Pro on these Dell systems. Same thing, just randomly stops working, and refuses to work before system has been rebooted.
Not sure whether it's just us two doing things wrong, though ;)

    Once is coincidence, twice....

I have a feeling it is a hardware problem. Like I wrote earlier, after the first clean install, without Windows update/Dell drivers, the 365 was nowhere to be seen apart from the BT light on the keyboard. I had to specifically download and install the Dell drivers since even letting W7 do a search for changed hardware and a Windows Update cycle didn't find it. Only after manually installing the drivers was the hardware found in Device Manager.

Yesterday, after removing both drivers and removal in DM, then rebooting, W7 did automatically update with generic drivers. In both cases, the usual BT icon isn't visible in Control Panel.

All of this leads me to believe that the fault lies with the hardware. Anyone know if there is a better BT mini-/card out there to replace the 365?

both of your mice are cutting out you say? I used a Logitech 470 BT mouse for 4 months and never had a problem, even gaming. I doubt that BOTH of you have bad BT modules...something else is going on methinks...

I don't think it's a bad module -- I've had this issue with both my M65, M4400, M6500 and my M6500 Covet, so it is likely something WE, the USERS are doing wrong :)
