The speakers are, obviously, very tinny and small. I am, however, assuming that you are referring to the audio output through the mini-jack plug?

In my opinion, it is a fairly good audio card. I had a Dell M65 previously, and this audio card is by far superior. If you have ever used a Dell M4400, which I have also owned, you will know how terrible the output on that laptop is, and the M6500 for me does not disappoint.

I am NO audiophile, yet when I connect this laptop to my 800 watt speaker system, I get the audio through nice and clear with no troubles whatsoever. Admittedly, hooking up to a system such as that, you need to play FLAC files or other lossless formats to be able to judge, and I'd say it gives good output.

Once again, just my opinion -- wait for others to reply and you will have a better baseline to judge from.

As for volume, it has plenty of that, too.

Agreed. I am completely OCD about 2 channel audio, have 10K in tube gear and speakers in my living room, and I agree.

I was succesfully using my M6500 docked to an E-Port Plus which was hooked up via display port to my desktop monitor. Now this arrangement has stopped working as my laptop will no longer bootup when docked, no problem when not docked. Any ideas on how to fix my docking/monitor problem?

Hmm lucky I installed slack on my Asus and have been having a hell of a time configuring the RC.wireless.conf file to my specifications. It's been so long since I got nitty gritty with Linux but with some tweaking its always been so much more enjoyable than windows. A compiled kernel specd exactly to its system is wicked fast plus the fun with home networks and the windows managers that are infinitely more usable and customizible than windows. Ok back on topic.(whatever that is) :p

The nvidia update enables Adobe CS5 gpu processing. That was my only reason to install.
