I removed a label from the palm rest of my M6400. Unfourtunately it left behind a sticky residue. In my defense it was the "regulatory information is under the battery" sticker and I am pretty sure it is supposed to be easy to remove.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use to clean the sticky stuff off the case? Obviously without damaging the finish on the case.

Rubbing alcohol should work great for removing sticky residue.

I would refrain from using alcohol unless it is properly diluted, as it caustic and will most certainly strip off the paint, leaving permanent splotches. Just use a soft cloth, wet it with water and place a small dab of dish washer fluid/detergent and rub using small circular movements. To wash off the soap residue just use another portion of the cloth dampened with water until it is all off.
