    Hi!
I'm getting my new E6400 next week.
It's good idea to install windows 7 64bit?
Someone wrote that there is driver issue and because of that the battery drain faster....

It's sucks to install vista and 2-3 month later install the whole system again with windows 7.

    Thank you

Not all the drivers for Windows 7 are out yet. So, your battery life in Windows 7 may be lower due to the lack of optimized drivers for it. You may also run into problems like crashing (though this is very unlikely) and other bugs using the Vista drivers on Windows 7.

I would wait for Dell to release all the Windows 7 drivers needed for your configuration before installing Windows 7, especially if you will be doing important work on the laptop.

win 7 64 bit since they release the rtm last 2weeks
so far, no hangs or sluggishness whatsoever
the intel and dell drivers provided on windows upade and dell's site worked flawless

** dell has win 7 drivers already. just enter your service tag on its support page

I have been using Win7 x64 since March. Very stable. No battery life issue at all. The Vista 64 bit drivers work fine, and Dell has now released some Win7 drivers, if you are still concerned about using Vista drivers.

Yeah, I'd just go straight for Windows 7 x64. I am now running the Professional version on both my laptop and desktop (both activated too thanks to MSDNAA). All I can say is that I've had no problems on either machine with Windows 7. Battery life is identical on my M1530 as it was in Vista x64. Performance feels better overall, and idle ram usage is down by a few hundred MBs.

    W7 all the way (x64)
As mentioned in my M4400 and finding more and more on most new laptops, W7 transforms the machine both in performance, looks, feel etc
