This thread will house my experience with Dell and my E6400. I purchased the laptop in March, and I've had 3 service orders since. I've had great customer service, both from the call center and the on-site technician.

    1. LCD Cover, Backlight, Bezel. These were replaced because they were either loose or slightly skewed.

    2. A/C Adapter. This was replaced because the wire insulation coming out of the adapter was separating.

    3. Motherboard. This will be replaced because it is suspected that the network connection is dropping due to the bad RJ-45 port.

In all, they have dispatched over $1060 in parts. That's more than 3/4 of the cost of the laptop.

Because of a strange boot message, they're sending a 2nd motherboard.

That's quick. Have you enabled the express charge in the BIOS? I see a maximum charge rate of 35W on my E6400 which decreases as the battery approaches full charge. I would estimate about 2 hours to charge my 6 cell battery.

Forums tend to focus on problems and problem solving. Few people sign up to say they have no problems.

My E6400 is now a day short of 11 months of use and I haven't yet had reason to contact Dell support. And it's not as if it has spent those 11 months sitting on a desk. It's done time in Yemen, Afghanistan, Kenya and Ethiopia as well as UK and the work includes getting stuffed in my bag and getting bounced over some rough roads.

Put it this way, it's better for people to be disucssing the problems of this notebook than for you to get it and then discover them by yourself. Plus, there aren't really too many to begin with.
