Need battery self charger?

I did get a new power adapter and a new generic version battery for my netbook but the netbook still doesn't want to charge. It basicly shows that the battery is in use the whole time even the power cord is plugged in. I was wondering about this but is there a self charger that can charge the battery so I don't need the netbook to charge the battery? Kinda like a normal battery charger. Or what do you guys think I should do? What do you guys think the problem is?


At first I thought it was the power adapter since the voltage and watts were less than what the netbook needs since it was from a different computer but even when I got the right power adapter it still doesn't work. Basicly I got this netbook used the the owner didn't have the original power adapter. Basicly the adapter I had originaly had less power than the Dell netbook original had. I have a Dell Latitude 2100.

 

Check if the ac adaptor is reconized in the BIOS properly

If not your battery may not charge properly

You have to get the proper ac adaptor for your laptop

 

The new AC adapter I have is the OEM original kind.


I tried wiggling the tip of the cable where is connects to the netbook nothing happenes meaning it's still the same. Also when I have it plugged in the battery says 32% and has 1421 hours and 49 min left. I think it's saying that since it things the battery is in use and really it isn't so it's showing false info. Basicly acting like it's using batteries but since it's not it has soo many hours left in just 32%. But it is using the AC adapter to power the computer.


Also when I disconnect the AC adapter then the battery reads like normaly meaning like 1 or 2 hours left when it's on the desktop idle.


Also for this Dell netbook I have to have the battery installed in order to turn it on since without the battery it won't even power on. My Sony laptop can work without the battery installed but this Dell for somereaon needs it. I think there is a latch or something that has to be pushed so the netbook knows the battery is installed.

 

Turn on your laptop, and press F2 or DEL key to get into the BIOS menu.

Check the status of the AC Adaptor - it should identify the adaptor as a Dell xx Watt adaptor

It should also identify the battery in the BIOS as well.

if the adaptor is good, and the batteries are new it really only leaves either the DC plug on the motherboard or some other issue on the motherboard as the most likely culprits.

 

I did look on the internet and found someone posted about battery not charing on a Dell laptop and someone said this.

I wounder if I' am having this problem since I got my adapter from Ebay and it could be a adapter that is like the Dell but it's not. But is this info true that if it's not a real Dell adapter it would not work?

 

ift is definitely possible as i mentioned above if you do not have the proper adaptor the battery will not charge

if the BIOS cannot identify the adaptor is disbales charging, and can put the laptop in low power mode (Runs Slower)

so get the peoper adaptor for your model, but from a USA based seller and ask them id it is an OEM adaptor before buying it.

Hello dustinbroke, I am so sorry that your adapters isn't working with your netbook. I can assure you that this adapter is Genuine OEM Dell. You can go on the Dell website and see that it is. On the adapter itself it says Dell Inc with a Dell Part Number. You may have ordered the wrong adapter or the adapter might be defective. If you don't mind me asking, what type of netbook do you have? I would love to research it myself and try and solve this issue we have at hand. I did also ask him about another adapter that is OEM and seems like the right one for my model and he said he had that one so he send a different one the Dell PA12 adapter. The one I had apprently was not the right one for my model or something. I hope this one will work if not I might have to get a Dell battery again and not generic one if it doesn't work since I never tried using the Dell one on the right adapter. Probley next week it will come since he send it today using USPS Priority mail.

 

it shold be fine once you have a proper Dell adaptor

There are many knock off adaptors on ebay - you have to do some careful research of the sellers and ask questions to help ensure you get the genuine part.
